The
Reward® wall system is a stay-in-place insulating
concrete form system. Reward walls are used in the
construction of both below grade (basement) and
above grade walls for commercial, industrial and
residential structures. Reward walls also have been
used for other purposes, such as sound and retaining
walls.
The Reward wall system is comprised of lightweight
foam blocks made of two pieces of expanded
polystyrene (EPS) held together with plastic ties.
The foam blocks are stacked like building blocks,
aligned, braced, strengthened with steel rebar and
then filled with concrete. The resulting wall is a
solid continuous airtight, steel reinforced concrete
wall surrounded by several inches of insulating EPS.
Each foam block weighs approximately 5 pounds and
replaces 6 Concrete masonry Units (CMUs). |

The
interior configuration of the wall is a solid
uninterrupted post and beam design. The wall uses
25% less concrete than a standard poured wall but is
50% stronger due to the enhanced concrete hydration
process associated with Reward walls. The Reward
wall system's patented plastic ties are recessed and
embedded in the form.
The tie's open pattern and exclusive "rebar chair"
design provides for a smooth continuous flow of
concrete throughout the form and fast and easy
placement of horizontal rebar. The ties also serve
as the nailing surface for interior and exterior
finishes. All utilities and standard interior
finishes (drywall, paneling, etc.) and exterior
finishes (stucco, brick, wood, etc.) are easy to
install.
In short, a completed structure built using Reward
walls looks like any other building. Design
flexibility is nearly unlimited. Circular openings
and radii are all possible and fit neatly into
today's consumer demands. Highlights of the
resulting wall include a 3 hour firewall rating with
a 3,000 pound load (ASTM-E119); a sound transmission
class rating which is nearly unsurpassed; 30-50%
savings in labor time and up to a 96% reduction of
indoor dust and allergens. |
